Mechanical Engineer - Scan

About the role

This role leads multiple projects focused on mechanical hardware design for scan systems, covering mechanical design and program management tasks for the delivery of scan system hardware. It brings domain-specific expertise and a mechanical/thermal perspective to cross-organization projects, evaluating designs for technology compliance and driving the integration of new technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead multiple project teams delivering mechanical hardware for scan systems, including solution design, validation, tooling and testing.
• Manage and expand relationships with internal and outsourced development partners on mechanical and thermal design and development.
• Review and evaluate designs and project activities against technology and development guidelines and standards, giving feedback to improve product quality.
• Provide mechanical/thermal leadership and domain expertise to cross-organization projects, programs and activities.
• Interpret business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes or services.
• Drive innovation and the integration of new technologies in the mechanical and thermal design organization.
• Solve problems using technical experience, judgment and precedents, and mentor less experienced staff.

Required profile

• Four-year or graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Typically 7-10 years of work experience, preferably in engineering design and solutions, implementation across the hardware development lifecycle, or a related field.
• Preferred certifications: none listed.

Required skills

• CAD: PTC Creo (CAD suite) and SolidWorks.
• Ansys simulation software and finite element methods.
• Mechanical design, prototyping, injection molding, sheet metal, machining and manufacturing processes.
• Thermal management and electromechanics.
• Product design, new product development and product lifecycle management.
