Staff Software Engineer

About the role

GE Healthcare is hiring a senior Staff Software Engineer for its ultrasound research institute in Seongnam. The role leads the development of application and systems software for the product line, developing, debugging and verifying software to improve product functionality and integrate system features. It suits candidates with project leadership experience who can solve complex technical problems and make technical decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of complex software systems across multiple components
• Define the technical approach and influence architectural decisions
• Drive system-level design ensuring scalability, performance and maintainability
• Lead cross-team collaboration and align engineering work with product goals
• Establish engineering best practices, coding standards and design guidelines
• Review design and code across teams for quality and consistency
• Mentor engineers and help build capabilities across the organisation
• Handle ambiguous, high-impact technical problems and drive continuous improvement
• Comply with the Quality Manual, Quality Management System and Quality Management Policy, complete quality and compliance training on time, and report quality or compliance concerns

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or a related field
• 12 to 15 years of software development experience
• Business-level English communication for global collaboration; fluent English preferred

Required skills

• Software development, lifecycle and testing methodologies
• Object-oriented design and programming in C++, C# or similar
• Application development, debugging and performance optimisation
• Preferred: modern frameworks and tools, AI/ML model integration, API development, UI frameworks such as WPF and Qt, microservices or modular architecture, Git workflows
