Product Development Engineer - Semiconductor Metrology

About the role

KLA, a global leader in electronics for the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem, is hiring a Product Development Engineer for its Film and Scatterometry Technology (FaST) Division in Hwaseong, South Korea. The FaST Division develops metrology solutions for optical film thickness, optical critical dimension, composition and resistivity measurement systems used by IC manufacturers. The engineer works on next-generation Scatterometry Critical Dimension (SCD) products, supports current products, leads improvement projects and new product roll-outs, and provides field support for a key strategic customer.

Key responsibilities

• Lead multi-functional teams through product development, from new product roll-out to field support, and communicate with customers to identify requirements, explain performance and report progress.
• Own new product engagements: monitor system performance, respond to customer requests, drive corrective action plans and work with the development team to improve design.
• Diagnose system issues, find root causes and propose solutions, giving detailed analysis and trade-offs.
• Research and propose new product features, analyze component data, resolve subsystem inconsistencies and run trade-off studies.
• Prepare first drafts of system alignment, calibration and troubleshooting diagnostics, train operations and field personnel, and help introduce products to production.
• Drive teams to resolve issues at customer sites or in manufacturing, document solutions and share them so they can be applied across tools.
• Work with specialists in optics, electronics, mechanics, software and algorithms; some travel may be required.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Optics, Physics, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or a Bachelor's degree with two years of related work experience.
• Strong engineering or physical science background with analysis and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in the semiconductor capital equipment or manufacturing industry.
• Proficiency in Korean and English.
• Hands-on experience building and aligning opto-mechanical systems is highly desirable.
