Division System Engineer

About the role

KLA's Optical Metrology Division (OMD) develops advanced systems for optical overlay metrology, combining hardware and software to improve yield and efficiency for semiconductor manufacturers. As a Division System Engineer in Hwaseong, you will lead a multi-disciplinary R&D team and deliver high-impact work on next-generation products.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a multi-disciplinary R&D team to bring the next generation of products.
• Take part in developing and testing system design improvements, spec validation and solution implementation.
• Gather and analyse data from customer sites to find systematic or intermittent issues.
• Handle field escalations where field service engineers cannot resolve complex performance problems, with written plans of action, by email, phone or on-site support worldwide.
• Write technical reports covering issues, analysis, assessments, system status, best-known methods and engineering recommendations.
• Design and run multi-disciplinary experiments, write and peer review detailed test plans and summary reports.
• Perform root cause analysis and coordinate with service, manufacturing, engineering and marketing teams to optimise system performance.
• Coordinate with outside vendors on sub-system products and troubleshoot and maintain engineering prototypes at headquarters.

Required profile

• Doctorate in physics, optics or electrical engineering, OR a Master's degree with at least 2 years of experience, OR a Bachelor's degree with at least 3 years of experience.
• Degree in Engineering, Physics, Material Science or a related field.
• Previous experience with yield and process control instrument systems in the semiconductor industry.
• Excellent oral and written communication, organisational, analytical and interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate with internal teams, management and external customers.
• Self-driven and a strong team player.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing, optical-mechanical systems, wafer handling systems and servo control systems.
• Data analysis tools such as JMP, MATLAB and Microsoft Excel.
