Senior Legal Counsel – South Korea (Korean Speaking)

About the role

We are seeking a highly autonomous Senior Legal Counsel to lead Agoda’s legal function in South Korea. As the sole on‑ground legal resource, you will provide pragmatic regulatory, commercial and risk advice to senior management while ensuring compliance with local laws.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and ensure compliance with South Korean tech and OTA regulations, including the Electronic Commerce Act, Fair Labeling and Advertising Act, and Monopoly Regulation and Fair Trade Act; act as primary liaison with KFTC, KCC, PIPC and other regulators.
• Oversee data privacy compliance with the Personal Information Protection Act, manage licensing, audits and respond to regulatory inquiries.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements with hotels, airlines, payment gateways and marketing partners; ensure platform terms, UI and promotional materials meet Korean consumer protection standards.
• Manage customer disputes, coordinate external counsel for litigation, and handle corporate secretarial and governance duties.

Required profile

• LL.B., LL.M. or J.D. with 5‑10 years post‑qualification experience, including law‑firm and in‑house work in a multinational internet, e‑commerce or OTA environment.
• Proven track record dealing directly with KFTC, KCC or PIPC and deep knowledge of South Korean consumer protection and data‑privacy law.
• Native fluency in Korean and professional fluency in English.
• Strong commercial mindset, high resilience and ability to make independent risk‑based decisions in an ambiguous environment.
