Journeyman/Junior HVAC Technician

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Journeyman or junior-level HVAC Technician to support a military facility in Pyeongtaek, South Korea. The technician performs the full range of work involved in repairing, overhauling, maintaining and servicing heating, ventilation and air conditioning units and systems, acting as the lead HVAC-R Technician on their assigned shift.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, install, repair and modify commercial and industrial air conditioning, refrigeration and climate control systems that create specific, critical conditions.
• Perform preventative maintenance using the Reliability Centered Maintenance Methodology on complex or unique systems to keep pressure, temperature and climate characteristics within design limits.
• Work with engineering or scientific personnel on plans, modifications and user needs, reviewing drawings and planning installations for experiments or tests.
• Repair equipment where specifications and technical manuals are missing or incomplete, and test systems after installation, modification or repair.
• Train inexperienced personnel through on-the-job instruction and mentor an assigned apprentice.
• Assist other tradesmen as needed within a small multi-functional trade team.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years' experience supporting large buildings, preferably in an overseas environment.
• Journeyman's license issued by a U.S. state, or equivalent 5 years of experience with complex HVAC-R systems.
• Experience with large water chiller systems, cooling towers, CBRNE filter systems, smoke evacuation systems, CO2 scrubbing systems, automated intake louvers and screens, DDC systems and building automation sensor calibration.
• Good verbal and instructional skills, able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and work well with others and independently.
• Secret or TS/SCI clearance at the time of application.
