Field Quality Engineer

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Field Quality Engineer to improve service quality, customer satisfaction, and equipment reliability across its installed base. The role links field service teams, engineering, manufacturing, quality organizations, and customers to drive root‑cause investigations and sustainable corrective actions.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze field service data, customer feedback and equipment performance trends to identify quality improvement opportunities.
• Lead root‑cause investigations and corrective actions for recurring product and service issues.
• Partner with cross‑functional teams to resolve complex technical problems and improve service documentation.
• Develop and track quality metrics, dashboards and action plans to drive continuous improvement.
• Support customer escalations through technical analysis and structured problem solving.
• Drive lessons learned, best practices and knowledge reuse across the organization.
• Promote quality culture, first‑time‑right behaviors and issue ownership within the field organization.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in quality engineering, field service engineering or related technical role.
• Proven experience leading root‑cause investigations and corrective actions.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with ability to interpret technical data and identify trends.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to influence without direct authority.
