Senior Process Engineer

About the role

Air Liquide's Engineering department leads and executes large and mid-size capital projects and smaller continuous improvement projects related to commercial chemical manufacturing processes. The Senior Process Engineer acts as the central process engineering subject matter expert, managing all aspects of process engineering for projects supporting major product lines and manufacturing areas, with technical insight, leadership and disciplined project management.

Key responsibilities

• Provide process engineering and technical leadership for capital projects
• Troubleshoot problems in manufacturing processes
• Improve the safety of existing manufacturing installations
• Identify and implement methods for manufacturing cost reduction in line with business needs
• Provide process engineering expertise across product lines and sites
• Develop practical solutions to complex technical problems
• Document and communicate institutional knowledge throughout the organization
• Make quantitative, fact-based decisions
• Work closely with the project manager to keep projects on time, on budget and to quality standards
• Develop training materials for operations technicians and take part in their qualification process through classroom instruction

Required profile

• BS or MS in Chemical Engineering
• 13+ years of experience designing, commissioning and starting up chemical plants, with hands-on optimization of specialty chemicals and gases production units
• Demonstrated project planning and management expertise
• Proven track record of delivering commitments and ability to lead change under pressure
• Fluent English and Korean

Required skills

• Strong understanding of chemical engineering fundamentals
• Working knowledge of PLC and DCS control systems
• Process hazard analysis leadership, including LOPA and HAZOP
• Cost/benefit analysis, including DCF analysis
• Use of metrics for performance management
