Senior Associate, General Counsel (Technology)

About the role

Coupang is looking for a lawyer to join its Technology Legal team and support the business and operations of the global group on technology legal matters. The role is based in Seoul and involves hands-on, end-to-end legal support on technology and commercial transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and execute country-specific, regional and global technology and commercial transactions, including drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex technology and commercial contracts, working with Global Procurement, Technology and other teams.
• Provide strategic legal advice on technology legal matters such as artificial intelligence, robotics and automation, cloud computing, information security, software licensing, and the interpretation of contractual terms.
• Help develop legal risk management frameworks for contracting with technology vendors, including vendor contract standards, risk assessment and approval requirements, and monitoring compliance.
• Work with Global Procurement, Finance, Technology, Information Security and Privacy on projects and initiatives, and manage outside counsel retained for legal services.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer in the U.S., Korea or another common law jurisdiction (e.g. England, Australia, Singapore).
• At least 10+ years of post-qualification legal experience; a mix of law firm and in-house experience is preferred.
• Fluency in English and Korean.
• Ability to balance growth and risk in a fast-paced environment, strong communication skills, sound judgment and adaptability.
