Medical Advisor, Hematology

About the role

The Medical Advisor, Hematology will lead the medical team in Seoul, developing and executing medical affairs strategies for AbbVie’s hematology portfolio. This senior position partners with the Therapeutic Area Head, Oncology and supports the Korea Medical Director to integrate medical functions within the affiliate.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the hematology medical affairs team, setting goals, budgets and staffing levels.
• Develop and implement annual and long‑range medical affairs strategies aligned with brand and corporate priorities.
• Provide scientific, technical and strategic expertise to cross‑functional teams, including brand, HEOR, market access and sales.
• Support evidence generation, affiliate research studies and global GMA projects, and collaborate with Clinical Operations.
• Build and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders and ensure strong collaboration between field‑based medical staff and experts.
• Review and approve promotional and non‑promotional materials for scientific accuracy and compliance.
• Ensure adherence to laws, regulations, AbbVie policies and ethical standards.

Required profile

• Advanced degree (MD, PhD or equivalent) with a focus on oncology/hematology.
• Minimum 5 years of oncology experience, including at least 3 years in hematology within the pharmaceutical industry.
• Experience in pre‑launch and launch phases of new products or indications.
• Clinical research experience or strong knowledge of research methodologies.
• Proven leadership in cross‑functional team environments.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with senior internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong strategic thinking, problem‑solving, multitasking and budget management capabilities.
