LS/SWIFT Product Development System Engineer

About the role

KLA, a global leader in electronics for the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem, is hiring a System Engineer for its LS/SWIFT division within the Global Products Group. The division supplies patterned wafer inspection systems for high-volume semiconductor manufacturing, with LS (Laser Scanning) systems for foundry, logic, DRAM and NAND fabs and SWIFT (Simultaneous Wafer Inspection at Fast Throughput) systems for automotive IC, MEMS and advanced packaging. The role leads system and subsystem integration, testing and characterization.

Key responsibilities

• Lead system and subsystem integration, testing and characterization, and define and maintain specifications for performance and reliability.
• Deliver structured training to Manufacturing Engineers and NPI Engineers, and keep product knowledge current through regular trainings, including at KLA headquarters.
• Coordinate project activities with stakeholders, work with functional groups on design definition and review, and help define system architecture with marketing and engineering teams.
• Create and run test plans to validate system performance, and support manufacturing and field service teams with optics- and system-related escalations.
• Maintain documentation for design, testing and diagnostic procedures, and give weekly status reports and live presentations to management.
• Align with group strategy and roadmaps, drive new ideas and methods, and handle international travel of up to 20% and domestic travel of about 30%.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Optics or a related field, preferably with more than three years of relevant experience.
• Proven ability to work independently and resolve complex technical issues in multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience developing or supporting complex optical-mechanical systems or assemblies.
• Professional English, written and spoken.

Required skills

• Optical-mechanical systems experience; background in optoelectronics, sensor technology, microscopy, optics or system design is preferred.
• Scripting languages such as Python are a plus.
