Field Service Engineer (Software)

About the role

MKS Atotech Korea is looking for a Field Service Software Engineer to work alongside internal teams, customers and engineering groups on software systems integrated with industrial equipment. The engineer reports to the Software Engineer Manager and works in a research lab, manufacturing floor or field environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain PLC and JavaScript-based software for industrial equipment.
• Commission and configure software systems during equipment installation so they operate seamlessly.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot software and system issues to reduce downtime and improve efficiency.
• Train customers and internal teams on the operation and maintenance of software and equipment systems.
• Ensure software and equipment systems meet company standards and regulatory requirements.
• Manage communication protocols (SECS/GEM, OPC) and support fieldbus systems (Modbus, EtherCAT, Profibus).

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of experience in software development, system integration or a related field.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and customers.
• Physical ability to sit, stand and type for long periods and to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally; attention to detail and safety around high-voltage systems, gases and heat.

Required skills

• Programming in PLC and JavaScript.
• Industrial communication protocols such as SECS/GEM and OPC.
• Fieldbus systems such as Modbus, EtherCAT or Profibus.
• Preferred: commissioning and maintenance of industrial automation systems, hardware/software integration for manufacturing equipment, and familiarity with industrial safety standards.

Up to 30% of the time is spent travelling for on-site support and commissioning. The position is open to candidates residing in states where the company is registered to do business, and may be subject to export control restrictions.
