CAPRES Customer Engagement Applications Engineer

About the role

KLA, a global leader in electronics for the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem, is looking for an Applications Development Engineer to join its global CAPRES team, with a primary focus on Korea. The role supports application development and customer engagements for advanced electrical and magnetic metrology solutions, working with regional engagement leads, customers and internal teams so that CAPRES solutions deliver measurable value in R&D and high-volume manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement applications for CAPRES metrology systems, focusing on sheet resistance measurements, as well as CIPT, MOKE and FMR.
• Define and run characterization plans, analyze electrical and magnetic measurement data, and support customer evaluations and application deployment.
• Develop application methodologies, test strategies and best-known methods, and document results in evaluation reports and application notes.
• Support customer engagements, especially in Korea and across Asia, including on-site tool evaluations, application ramp and process integration.
• Provide hands-on support at customer sites, including recipe setup, optimization, troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Implement and qualify new use cases at customer sites and capture customer requirements and future technology needs for tool and software improvements.
• Contribute to application and evaluation projects, support knowledge transfer and technical guidance within the team.

Required profile

• Preferred: proven semiconductor process engineering experience in ion implantation, metallization, diffusion/CVD or etch, and expertise in process characterization using sheet resistance metrology and manufacturing data analytics.
• Preferred: demonstrated success in process optimization, yield enhancement and cross-functional problem solving, and strong experience in customer-facing, on-site roles.
• Preferred: ability to independently solve complex technical problems, contribute to customer evaluations and product releases, and collaborate with engineering, marketing and field teams.
• Qualifications: PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science or a related field with 0+ years of experience; or Master's degree with 3+ years; or Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Solid understanding of semiconductor applications, device characterization or process engineering, and strong English communication and presentation skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of engineering principles related to electrical and magnetic measurements and data analysis.
• Experience with data analysis tools such as Python, MATLAB, JMP or similar.
