VSE (Ion Implant) Installation Customer Engineer

About the role

As a Field Service Engineer (Customer Engineer) at Applied Materials, you will act as the primary liaison with customers to install, maintain, and upgrade ion‑implant equipment. You will use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot and ensure reliable operation of complex systems.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior engineers to install, maintain, and upgrade customer equipment.
• Use digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply basic diagnostic techniques under guidance.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems (training provided).
• Coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations and high‑quality service.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience, or trade certification.
• 1–2 years of customer/field service support or related technical experience.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.

Required skills

• Digital analytics for equipment troubleshooting.
• Basic diagnostic techniques for electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems.
• Proficiency with hand tools, digital multimeters, and basic mechanical aptitude (pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, thermodynamics).
• Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
