Optical Wafer Inspection (OPWI) Systems Engineer

About the role

As an Optical Wafer Inspection (OPWI) Systems Engineer you will design, integrate, and optimize complex inspection systems for semiconductor customers. You will work on‑site at customer fabs, providing technical leadership and troubleshooting to ensure high tool performance and stability.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the local expert for OPWI system development and support at customer sites.
• Provide on‑site system support, including tool‑to‑tool matching, stability, throughput, accuracy, and focus optimization.
• Diagnose and resolve production issues through root‑cause analysis and hardware debugging.
• Participate in R&D projects, develop new capabilities, and improve tool performance.
• Collaborate with customers on performance issues, present findings, and produce technical reports.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Physics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or Ph.D. in a related field).
• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on system development experience, preferably in optical inspection.
• Strong analytical skills, independent work style, and ability to communicate clearly in English.
• Willingness to travel frequently (initial 1‑2 months and 2‑3 times per year thereafter).
