Senior Regulatory Compliance Manager – Korea

About the role

Airwallex, the AI-native financial operating system used by more than 675,000 businesses, is hiring a Senior Regulatory Compliance Manager for its business in Korea. The role sits in the Global Regulatory Compliance Team, which is part of the second line of defence (2LOD) of the Legal, Risk & Compliance function, and reports to the Director, Regulatory Compliance, Asia (based in Singapore). It covers the regulatory engagement strategy for the region and the existing payment services and money remittance compliance program.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the regulatory compliance parts of licence authorisation processes and act as a key stakeholder on licence applications, business plan updates and information requests with regulators
• Maintain regulatory compliance and integrity risk reporting obligations in Korea and manage regulatory requests
• Advise the business on regulatory change and compliance risk, and develop policies and processes for regulatory risk obligations in the first line business
• Manage compliance risk within the Airwallex Risk Management Framework and escalation process, including the Group Risk Committee, and advise on conduct risk and ethics matters
• Deliver the Compliance Monitoring Program, run targeted and thematic reviews, and deliver the Group's compliance training plus ad-hoc training for specific business areas
• Run Proactive Special Ops projects to help the business achieve its strategic goals faster

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree with at least 6 years of compliance experience in a regulated financial institution, FinTech, legal or consulting firm, or a mix of these
• Experience developing or maintaining a compliance program in a financial institution, preferably for payments activity
• Preferred: exposure to licensing processes, regulatory expansion, and RegTech or technology-driven compliance solutions
• Preferred: demonstrable experience with the FSC and FSS in Korea and other Asian financial services regulators

Required skills

• Familiarity with financial regulatory laws, rules and best practices in Korea and across Asia
• Data proficiency and the ability to work with data for strategic decisions
• Strategic thinking and creative problem solving on complex compliance challenges
• Strong communication skills with regulators, executives and front-line staff
