Senior Director, Global Payroll and Equity Administration

About the role

The Senior Director, Global Payroll and Equity Administration will lead worldwide payroll and equity strategy and operations across all countries where Coupang operates, acting as the functional product owner to build a world‑class payroll and equity infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute Coupang’s global payroll and equity strategy, transforming the function into a tech‑driven strategic partner.
• Lead the end‑to‑end payroll processing and equity administration (stock options, RSUs, performance awards) for all global entities.
• Identify bottlenecks and re‑engineer payroll and equity processes, establishing forward‑looking KPIs.
• Build and audit robust internal controls to ensure multi‑jurisdictional tax, labor and equity compliance.
• Rationalize and manage relationships with external payroll and equity providers, enforcing strict SLAs.

Required profile

• 15+ years of progressive experience in payroll and equity administration within large, publicly‑traded, multi‑country organizations.
• Proven track record delivering custom, proprietary payroll/equity systems as a functional product owner.
• Deep expertise in global regulatory environments, especially in Asia‑Pacific and North America.
• Strong executive communication skills with ability to influence cross‑functional leaders.
• Fluency in English; Korean proficiency a plus.
