Principal Engineer, Visual Experience Lead

About the role

HARMAN is hiring a Principal Engineer, Visual Experience Lead, within its Visual Experience (VX) organization. The role owns end-to-end engineering programs across mechanical, optical and hardware domains, depending on business needs supporting product-level programs, project-level initiatives or both. It focuses on alignment, accountability and predictability rather than people management, leading through influence with Engineering Managers, SMEs, Product Management and Program Management.

Key responsibilities

• Work as an individual contributor with no direct reports.
• Coordinate cross-functionally with Mechanical, Optical, Hardware, Manufacturing, Quality, Supplier Engineering, Product Management and Program Management teams across global locations.
• Cascade product-level reuse, variant and architectural decisions into projects, and track risks and mitigation plans for project-level initiatives.
• Serve as the main engineering program interface between product engineering and Product Delivery Program Managers.
• Feed project learnings back into product teams and take part in alignment forums with Product Management and leadership.

Required profile

• Strong experience delivering complex, multi-disciplinary engineering efforts.
• Proven ability to lead execution through influence without direct reporting authority.
• Experience in both product-oriented delivery and project-based execution models.
• Willingness to travel globally, a valid driver's license, and a passport able to obtain visa status for the US, China, Mexico, Korea, Japan, Germany and India.
• Flexibility in working hours due to global infrastructure.
• Eligible candidates must complete a background investigation and drug screen.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of mechanical, optical and hardware engineering domains.
• Bonus: BS or higher degree in Mechanical, Optical or Electrical Engineering.
• Bonus: experience with automotive display or visual experience systems and with global, cross-cultural engineering teams.
