Medical Affairs Manager (RD - Hematology / Nephrology)

About the role

AstraZeneca is looking for a Medical Affairs Manager (Research & Development) covering hematology and nephrology. The role leads a high-performance field medical team that drives better patient outcomes and the safe and effective use of AstraZeneca medicines, in line with company strategy and the local Medical Affairs plan.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coach the field medical team, recruiting the right talent and ensuring an environment for MSL development and high performance
• Lead the team with an integrated engagement plan, covering traditional and non-traditional stakeholders, and guide them in communicating complex science to stakeholders
• Ensure the Field Medical Strategic Plan and MSL activities are aligned with Medical Affairs strategy and portfolio priorities
• Identify and champion clinical practice transformation initiatives that improve patient access to quality care
• Use digital tools, data and dashboards to make data-driven decisions and share insights with internal teams
• Contribute to medical and product strategies, and report progress against plan with variances and mitigations
• Oversee team compliance with AstraZeneca guidelines, standards, policies and local regulations, and manage team financial resources
• Act as a subject matter expert in the therapeutic area, with strong relationships with key healthcare professionals

Required profile

• Scientific degree or master's degree in a scientific discipline
• Knowledge of pharmaceutical industry legislation and the field medical function
• Ability to interact with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
• Desired: doctoral degree (M.D., Ph.D., Pharm.D.), experience in clinical or pre-clinical research, basic research, drug discovery and development, and team management experience
