Diagnostics Manager, Medical

About the role

AstraZeneca is hiring a Diagnostics Manager, Medical, who translates diagnostics strategy into actionable plans for assigned therapeutic areas and leads diagnostics initiatives across Medical, Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory and R&D teams. The role works at system level to improve testing pathways and evidence generation, and operates in the candidate's own country.

Key responsibilities

• Translate cross-therapy diagnostics strategy into plans, define priorities, resource allocation and a roadmap to improve patient identification and diagnostic performance, aligned with medical and business strategy.
• Lead diagnostics initiatives across functions and coordinate with Medical, Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory and R&D teams.
• Optimize testing pathways by analyzing barriers to testing access and efficiency, designing scalable solutions and collaborating with labs, diagnostic companies and healthcare systems.
• Aggregate insights from field staff, external stakeholders and data, monitor performance metrics and turn them into strategic recommendations.
• Lead or support evidence generation (e.g. real-world data, publications) and link diagnostics strategy to patient outcomes and business impact.

Required profile

• Degree in life sciences, pharmacy or a related field (MSc preferred).
• 5+ years of experience in diagnostics or project roles related to biomarker testing, including CDx testing in the relevant therapeutic area(s).
• Proven experience in strategy development, project leadership or cross-functional initiatives.
• Strong understanding of biomarker-driven diagnostics and patient identification pathways.
• Desirable: oncology diagnostics, rare disease or complex diagnostic pathways, evidence generation or healthcare system projects.

Required skills

• Biomarker discovery, validation and application, and knowledge of PCR, next-generation sequencing, immunoassays and imaging methods.
• Understanding of personalized and precision medicine.
• Preferred: digital health, AI in diagnostics and integration with electronic health records.
• Strategic thinking, analytics, project management, collaboration and communication across functions.
