Field Quality Engineer

About the role

Applied Materials seeks a Field Quality Engineer to enhance service quality, customer satisfaction, and equipment reliability across its installed base. The role bridges field service teams, engineering, manufacturing, quality organizations, and customers to drive root‑cause investigations and sustainable corrective actions.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze field service data, customer feedback, and equipment performance trends to identify quality improvement opportunities.
• Coach field teams on root‑cause investigations, corrective actions, and escalation handling.
• Partner with engineering, manufacturing, supplier quality, and business units to resolve complex technical problems.
• Develop and track quality metrics, dashboards, and action plans for continuous improvement.
• Support product introductions, ramp readiness, and field reliability initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in quality engineering, field service engineering, or related technical roles.
• Proven experience leading root‑cause investigations and implementing corrective actions.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work across functions and influence without direct authority.

Required skills

• Semiconductor equipment or high‑tech manufacturing knowledge.
• Quality management systems and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean Six Sigma, ASQ).
• Data‑driven problem solving, reliability engineering, and failure analysis.
