Design Lead – South Korea (24‑month contract)

About the role

Canva is looking for a Design Lead to shape the creative direction for the South Korea market on a 24‑month fixed‑term basis. You will work closely with the Country Content Strategy Lead, Country Manager and cross‑functional teams to deliver locally relevant, high‑impact design content.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a compelling creative vision aligned with the Country Content Strategy and strategic priorities.
• Collaborate with local Marketing, SEO, and Community teams to translate regional strategies into locally relevant campaigns.
• Oversee creation and curation of design kits, campaign assets, creator briefs and in‑house production, ensuring cultural relevance.
• Lead quality control of all content outputs, maintaining brand guidelines and high visual standards.
• Provide deep cultural insights, conduct content research and champion hyper‑local design perspectives.
• Monitor content performance, conduct audits and analysis, and turn insights into actionable recommendations.
• Manage freelance designers and creators, handling recruitment, briefing, review and development.
• Report on campaign ROI, communicate results to senior leadership and maintain transparent documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Design, Marketing, Communications or related field.
• Proven experience in creative leadership roles with international or regional scope.
• Strong portfolio showcasing culturally resonant design work and content campaigns.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management and storytelling abilities.
• Experience managing freelancers or creators and delivering high‑quality outputs.
• Comfort working in a fast‑paced, experimental environment.
