Manager, ETCH Customer Engineer

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Manager, ETCH Customer Engineer to lead service and start‑up activities for semiconductor equipment in South Korea. The role focuses on forecasting needs, managing warranties, and ensuring high customer satisfaction while developing a skilled engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Forecast financial, manpower and operational requirements for start‑up, warranty and service agreements.
• Identify and pursue service‑agreement business together with marketing and sales teams.
• Manage start‑up projects, controlling time and cost, and oversee local inventory and RMA procedures.
• Maintain Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) to target and manage system start‑up and warranty costs within reserve.
• Ensure customer satisfaction with service and system performance, and handle escalations according to procedure.
• Interview, hire and train customer engineers to support regional business and develop their skills.
• Promote quality‑improvement processes to reduce cycle time and drive continuous technical performance improvement.

Required profile

• Demonstrates in‑depth understanding of concepts and principles in the engineering job family and basic knowledge of related families.
• Applies industry knowledge to achieve business objectives and manages a homogeneous team, adapting plans to service challenges.
• Identifies and resolves technical, operational and organisational problems impacting service quality, volume and timeliness.
• Guides, influences and persuades internal and external stakeholders while adhering to global standards of business conduct.
