Optical Wafer Inspection (OPWI) Systems Engineer – Korea

About the role

As an Optical Wafer Inspection (OPWI) Systems Engineer you will lead the development, integration and on‑site support of advanced optical inspection tools for semiconductor fabs in Korea. You will work closely with customers and internal R&D teams to ensure the highest performance and reliability of the equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide on‑site technical leadership for OPWI systems, handling tool‑to‑tool matching, stability, throughput, accuracy and focus.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root‑cause hardware debugging and fault isolation on customer wafers.
• Develop and deliver system specifications, test plans and integration procedures.
• Collaborate with customers to define optimal tool configurations and work‑arounds for complex detection scenarios.
• Participate in R&D projects, contributing to new capability development and performance optimisation.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations and SOPs for tool management and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field with at least 3 years of hands‑on system development experience, or a Ph.D. (entry‑level candidates encouraged).
• Strong analytical abilities, independent work style and excellent communication in English.
• Proven ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and lead without formal authority.
