Field Engineering Manager, Specialist Solutions Architects

About the role

Databricks is hiring a Field Engineering Manager, Specialist Solutions Architects, based in Seoul. The manager leads a team of Specialist Solutions Architects (SSAs) who support the most complex customer engagements with deep technical expertise, working alongside the Solution Architect and Sales teams on technical account strategy. The role reports to the Director, Field Engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Hire, train and grow a diverse team of Specialist Solutions Architects for Databricks.
• Work with cross-functional counterparts to set where the team deploys its technical experts so that the region's consumption targets are exceeded.
• Help resolve customer questions and concerns on strategic accounts and opportunities identified by Sales and Pre-sales leadership.
• Oversee and retire a regional growth quota to grow Databricks Platform usage and reduce churn in strategic accounts.
• Build relationships across the business and foster collaboration between Field Engineering, Sales and other internal partners.
• Act as a supportive manager: handle escalations, mentor team members and build career paths for them.

Required profile

• 5+ years leading Data & AI Engineering teams, technical pre-sales and/or post-sales teams, with a proven track record managing elite technical individual contributors.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience developing data solutions on highly technical platforms such as distributed computing, cloud data warehousing, MLOps and Generative AI infrastructure.
• Experience hiring, ramping and promoting people, and working with Sales, Product Management and Forward Deployed Engineering teams.
• Native Korean is a must; business-level English is preferred.
