Software Engineer - Multi-Agent UAV Autonomy (Defense)
applied · Seoul
Job description
About the role
Applied Intuition builds the tools that defense customers use to develop autonomy for unmanned aerial systems. It is hiring a Software Engineer for its on-site team in Seoul to build multi-agent autonomy development tools. The role works closely with U.S. product and engineering teams and with Korean defense customers to turn their operational requirements into product capabilities.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain core features of the autonomy development tools, focusing on multi-agent mission planning, coordination and training workflows.
- Validate the tools in practice: build reference multi-agent UAV autonomy, run the full workflow from simulation through deployment on real airframes, and turn failures into product requirements.
- Define how simulation is used across the development cycle, including fidelity, tuning and validation workflows, and how to close the gap between simulated and real flight.
- Collaborate with U.S. product and engineering teams on shared roadmaps, acting as the Korea-based extension of the global product teams.
- Contribute to system-level design and architecture, ensuring scalability, reliability and performance.
- Run technical deep dives with Korean defense customers, clarify their needs and turn them into product specifications and roadmap input.
- Guide customers on using the tools to develop their own multi-agent unmanned systems, and mentor engineers in the Korea team.
Required profile
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional engineering experience, or equivalent research experience, in a fast-paced, customer-oriented environment.
- Hands-on experience in either: building and flying real unmanned aircraft and understanding the tuning process, or researching or engineering multi-agent coordination algorithms, including ML methods such as reinforcement learning.
- Strong problem-solving skills, excellent written and spoken English, and the ability to lead technical discussions with customers.
Required skills
- Proficiency in Python, C++ or similar programming languages.
- Experience on complex, multidisciplinary projects in a collaborative team.
- Preferred: familiarity with flight control stacks and autopilot software (e.g. PX4, ArduPilot), ATR, drone swarming, path planning, simulation platforms, ML training infrastructure, air-gapped deployments, and professional Korean.
What we offer
- Lunch and dinner allowance.
- Equity (RSU) offering.
- English / Korean language allowance.
- Fitness and learning allowance.
