Senior Data Engineer – Corporate Research Laboratory Asia

About the role

3M’s Corporate Research Laboratories (CRL) in Asia are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to support informatics across the region. You will design scalable data architectures, lead integration efforts, and develop localized digital applications that enable scientific and operational insights.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable data architectures for Asian lab informatics.
• Lead data integration across laboratory systems, research platforms, and regional data sources.
• Establish and maintain data governance standards aligned with global practices.
• Develop, tailor, and maintain local digital applications and analytical tools for R&D workflows.
• Build and manage data pipelines, models, and dashboards to support research and decision‑making.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering or related field (Master/PhD preferred).
• Minimum two years of data engineering or cloud development experience.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in cross‑functional teams.
• Highly motivated, self‑starting and creative problem solver.

Required skills

• AWS cloud services: DynamoDB, Lambda, Glue, Batch, S3, EFS, EBS, FSx, DataSync, SageMaker, Jupyter, Spark.
• Programming: Python (SciPy stack), JavaScript, Matlab, GitHub, Drone CI.
• Databases: SQL and NoSQL.
• Web and visualization: React/Redux, HTML, Django/Flask, Django REST framework, Dash/Plotly, Power BI.
• Identity and access: auth0, Active Directory.
