About the role
The ETCH Technical Product Support (TPS) Engineer joins Applied Materials to support hardware performance at customer sites, resolve critical issues, and drive new product introductions. This role combines deep technical expertise with customer‑facing responsibilities in a fast‑paced semiconductor environment.
Key responsibilities
- Participate in new product introductions and early learning shipments.
- Provide third‑level escalation for hardware and software stability issues and drive failure analysis to resolve long‑term technical problems.
- Deliver Alpha‑site support for installation, operation, calibration, service and testing of new hardware, processes or software, both in‑house and on engineering tools.
- Provide Beta‑site support on customer tools, handling installation, operation, calibration, service and testing of new hardware, software or processes.
- Review Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) to ensure data supports fixes and communicate updates to the field.
- Generate and present system performance data such as MTBF, MTBI and availability, and produce process and spending analyses.
- Create and review documentation for technical improvements, system upgrades and support plans, and present findings to customers.
- Organise and deliver on‑site training for early learning shipments and new product introductions to internal and external engineers.
Required profile
- Demonstrates depth and breadth of expertise in a specialized technical discipline.
- Interprets internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services.
- Leads functional teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk and complexity.
- Solves complex problems using sophisticated analytical thinking and innovative solutions.
- Communicates difficult concepts and negotiates with stakeholders to adopt alternative viewpoints.
