ETCH Customer Engineer

About the role

As a Field Service Engineer (Customer Engineer) at Applied Materials, you act as the direct liaison with customers, collaborating closely to install, maintain, and upgrade semiconductor equipment. You will use digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply basic diagnostic techniques to assess and resolve technical issues.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with Senior Field Service Engineers to install, maintain, and upgrade customer equipment.
• Use digital analytics and basic diagnostic techniques to troubleshoot equipment.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems (training provided).
• Coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations.
• Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Associate degree, military technical training, field service experience, or trade certification.
• 1–2 years of experience in customer/field service support or a related technical field.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Basic mechanical aptitude with pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum, or thermodynamics.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a passport for travel.

Required skills

• Digital analytics for equipment troubleshooting.
• Interpretation of electrical and mechanical schematics.
• Maintenance of electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems.
• Use of hand tools and digital multimeters.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
