Director, Communication & Public Affairs, North Asia

About the role

The Director, Communication & Public Affairs for North Asia leads all communication and public affairs activities across South Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong for Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine. Reporting to the VP of Communication & Public Affairs, Asia Pacific, the role is a senior market leadership position within the North Asia Leadership Team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of global communication and public affairs strategies for North Asia, ensuring alignment with business objectives and patient needs.
• Manage relationships with external partners such as PR agencies, media outlets, patient groups, trade associations and NGOs.
• Provide senior‑level counsel and strategic insight to the Area Managing Director and other business leaders.
• Oversee budgets, agency contracts and crisis‑management activities.
• Represent the function on the North Asia Leadership Team and the Asia Pacific Communication & Public Affairs Leadership Team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred) with 12‑15 years of experience in public affairs, media relations or communications, preferably in healthcare.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑cultural teams and manage multiple projects across geographies and time zones.
• Flawless written and verbal English and Korean communication skills.
• Strong network with top‑tier Korean media and experience in crisis management.
