Senior Data Scientist - Retail Measurement (FMCG)

About the role

NielsenIQ is looking for a Senior Data Scientist to support modeling and analytics for retail measurement data within the Korean FMCG market. You will work in a collaborative team solving client-driven business challenges: projects are assigned by a team manager, and you partner with cross-functional colleagues to define methodologies, agree on analytical approaches and shape client communication. A key responsibility is developing and validating Universe (population) definitions and projection methodologies so that panel data accurately reflects the overall market.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain data models for FMCG and retail measurement in the Korean market
• Design, validate and refine Universe settings and projection methodologies based on panel data
• Clean, process and validate data quality to ensure robust output
• Work with internal teams to define analytical approaches and methodologies for client projects
• Turn analytical findings into clear, structured storytelling for clients, explaining assumptions, methodologies and reasoning
• Improve data quality, projection accuracy and modeling approaches
• Manage stakeholder expectations and contribute to effective project delivery

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or above in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Data Science or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in FMCG, retail measurement, consumer analytics or related fields
• Strong English, written and spoken, to communicate with global teams and clients
• Preferred: experience with consumer panel data, Universe building and projection methods, and project-based, client-facing work

Required skills

• Python for data analysis and modeling (required)
• Solid understanding of data processing, statistics and modeling fundamentals
• SQL and large-scale datasets
